WATERFORD, ONTARIO — As autumn deepens across Norfolk County, the small town of Waterford is preparing to ignite its annual fall celebration: the 43rd annual Pumpkinfest, set for October 17–19, 2025.
What began as a community showcase of pumpkins and local pride has blossomed into one of the region’s most anticipated autumn festivals — a vibrant blend of family entertainment, arts, music, quirky contests, and unmistakable small-town charm.

A Festival Rooted in Tradition
Pumpkinfest is organized and run by the Waterford Lions Club, with the help of countless volunteers from across the community. What started as a simple fall gathering has grown to feature hundreds of events throughout downtown Waterford, uniting residents and visitors alike.
At the heart of the celebration is the pumpkin pyramid — a towering display of carved pumpkins, that serves as a glowing emblem of the season and a favourite photo stop for festival-goers.
Over the years, Pumpkinfest has evolved while preserving its community spirit, adding attractions like the car show, soapbox derby, craft marketplace, live music, spook house, and decorating contests — all while keeping the same neighbourly feel that made it special from the start.
What’s on for 2025
This year’s schedule is packed with activity from Thursday through Sunday.
Thursday evening kicks things off with Pumpkinfest clothing sales near the arena doors (5:00–8:00 p.m.) and the opening of the World’s Finest Midway downtown.
Friday night brings live music, the popular Spook House, and a dazzling fireworks show lighting up the sky over the ball diamond. Bands like Beggars for Hire, The Echelon, and The Old Barn Doors will set the tone for the weekend with performances on the main stage.
Saturday is the heart of the festival, with the Pumpkinfest Parade (12:30–2:00 p.m.) winding through downtown. Families can enjoy the Kids’ Zone, craft beer garden, and a full lineup of performers, including Maddie & Paul, Friendship on a Stick, Mississippi Bends, and Killin’ Time.
On Sunday, the Walk, Run & Roll race follows the scenic Waterford Heritage Trail, where costumes are encouraged and prizes await. Visitors can also take in birds-of-prey demonstrations, the soapbox derby, classic car show, and another full day of live music on the main stage.
Throughout the weekend, attractions like the Marketplace, Pumpkinfest at the Library, and community-wide decorating contests add even more colour and charm to the event.
The Spirit That Powers It All
One of Pumpkinfest’s defining traits is how completely it transforms Waterford. Businesses, civic groups, and cultural venues all take part — from the Old Town Hall to the Heritage & Agricultural Museum. It’s a weekend where every corner of town hums with creativity and collaboration.
The festival’s success depends entirely on volunteers — from street marshals to stage crews and cleanup teams. Their efforts not only keep Pumpkinfest running smoothly but also raise funds that go directly back into local community projects.
