Red Fox Farm Hosts a Night of Song and Story

By Kirk Fox

On Saturday, October 4, Red Fox Farm welcomed Hamilton’s Matthew de Zoete and his band of friends, Colour Film, to the barn stage for an unforgettable evening of music and storytelling.

Matthew’s warm melodic voice, subtle humour, and heartfelt songwriting drew the audience in from the first note to the final encore. His stories—woven between songs—offered a glimpse into the heart behind his craft, making the night feel deeply personal.

Bandmates Andrew (from Hamilton) and Kori (from Port Ryerse) added rich harmonies and multi-instrumental talent that brought each song to life. The evening closed with “Colour Film,” Matthew’s signature song inspired by his grandparents—an emotional performance that left few dry eyes in the barn.

Opening the show was Simcoe’s own Aardvark and Sons, whose laid-back sound and original tunes perfectly set the mood for the night ahead.

If you missed this one, don’t worry—Red Fox Farm has more incredible nights like this coming up. Stay tuned to their FACEBOOK page for future concerts and community events at the barn.
