Finding Balance: Enjoying Norfolk Treats without the Guilt.

By Kale Robinson – Contributor

Anyone who knows me knows that I love food. All the food. Healthy high-protein and veggie-based meals along with the hyper-tasty high-calorie eats. But I also love feeling good. My goal is to teach people that you can have both.

Yes, that means you can eat Barn Yard Smash Burgers, Chip Ship Dill Pickle Fries, and Portside Sweets Cookies without gaining weight—if you focus on balance and strategy. The key is not restriction, but being mindful.

Why I Think Weekly, Not Daily

How did I fit in my favourite eats while still feeling great throughout the summer? By focusing on my weekly calorie intake.

People will have one “bad” day of eating and think they’ve ruined everything. But the truth is, one indulgence won’t make you gain fat—just like one salad won’t make you lose it. What matters is the habits you carry over time.

Looking at your intake across a whole week adds context that day-to-day tracking often misses. You can even plan for those higher-calorie meals by adjusting the rest of the week. Knowing you’ve banked a few extra calories for the weekend makes that burger part of the plan instead of a setback.

The Bottom Line

Food should be enjoyed. When you zoom out and look at the bigger picture, you realize you don’t have to choose between feeling good and loving what you eat. With some weekly balance, you really can have both.
