Simcoe, ON – With thousands of visitors set to arrive for the Norfolk County Fair on October 8, residents are rolling up their sleeves to show off the very best of their town. A Major Community Cleanup has been announced for Saturday, October 4, led by local organizer Josh Parsons, with the goal of giving Simcoe a fresh, pride-filled shine.
This isn’t the first time neighbors have come together to transform their town. On September 13, volunteers gathered downtown, pulling weeds, collecting litter, and sharing conversations that brought both the streets and the spirit of the community to life. The success of that day sparked something bigger.
More Than Just Picking Up Trash
Parsons says this cleanup isn’t about garbage bags alone—it’s about pride. “When we see something that needs doing, we roll up our sleeves and get it done,” he emphasized. The effort highlights the power of grassroots action: one person picking up trash inspires another, a business owner sweeping their sidewalk motivates an entire block, and soon, small acts become a movement.
Building Momentum
The October 4 event is being positioned as the biggest cleanup yet, with a call to service clubs, organizations, businesses, and residents alike to get involved. The vision? A Simcoe that welcomes visitors with streets that clearly reflect the care and pride of its people.
“Strong communities aren’t built from the top down—they’re built by neighbors who show up, by residents who care, by people who believe small actions create big change,” Parsons explained.
A Larger Movement in the Making
The cleanup is just one step in a broader push to strengthen and connect Simcoe. Organizers see it as a chance to demonstrate what happens when a community shares a vision and works side by side to achieve it.
On October 4, volunteers won’t just be tidying up—they’ll be making a statement. With the Fair just days away, Simcoe plans to send a powerful message: this is a community that loves where it lives.
